I was passing through Otaki on Saturday in the late afternoon. On my way into the store, I noticed a New World employee talking to a distressed older gentleman on the bench in the foyer. ( We later identified the employee a Addison ). After we had finished in store, we were heading to our car and noticed this man with Addison who had some tools, to break the car window to get in the car as the man had locked himself out. He was visibly upset as he needed to get home to take his medication and had asked Addison to smash the window so he could get home. We offered him a ride but he was adamant he wanted entry gained through the window. Fortunately we managed to gain access to the car with some packing tape Addison found, and the tools provided and a very relieved gent made his way home.
I just wanted to acknowledge that Addison's caring and calm concern and care for this man was exemplary, and sourcing the necessary items was excellent. Polite, friendly and so helpful and genuinely concerned to help (outside of the New World employee expectation).
I hope this feedback is relayed back to your Otaki Store.
I was appalled this afternoon to witness as I was entering New World Orewa to be passed by a very large dark skinned man carrying in both hands a number of potato chip packets and be followed by two of the staff who were telling him to come back to the store to pay for the goods he had in his hands. He totally ignored them and continued to walk away.
I did some shopping, when I returned to my vehicle there he was walking through the New World car park still carrying potato chips. In fact he crossed the road and appeared to be making his way to Countdown.
When I got home I called the store and ask why he had not been apprehended by the police. I was told they had him on the store camera and would let the police know.
So he was allowed to get away with this no consequence. He would know doubt be long gone by the time the police are informed. He will do this time and time again he was so brazen.No wonder there is so much crime in NZ. I guess should I decided that I wish to help myself in your stores then it would be OK. No consequence??????????
